Closed January and February

As many of you know we are very seasonal and after 15 years at the helm, this place means more to us than than we can ever put into words. Normally we'd open for long weekends in January and February but this year we have made the decision to take a proper winter pause. As well as building a fresh team for the year ahead, we also have some family health matters that need our time and attention. Taking a step back during the quieter months feels like the right decision, both personally and for the future of the Griffin. Thank you for your continued support, kindness and understanding.

Please note, well behaved dogs are only allowed in the small bar area of the pub and on our roof top terrace>

Dale, Pembrokeshire - beautiful seaside village near Marloes - a hidden gem

At the helm, Simon and Sian

In 2010, Simon and Siân returned to their Pembrokeshire roots and took over The Griffin, bringing their two children along for a lifestyle change that has since shaped the heart of Dale village. This place has always held a special meaning for the family — Simon visited as a child, spending time with his grandfather, while Sian’s connection goes even deeper: she was born nearby, grew up in the area and her parents ran The Griffin in the 1990s…

Over the past 15 years, Simon has evolved from architect to celebrated chef, affectionately known as the “Accidental Chef,” and was named Pub Chef of the Year 2021. Together, Simon and Sian have grown The Griffin into a destination seafood pub, earning numerous awards for their fresh, locally sourced seafood, outstanding service, and warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Today, The Griffin is more than a pub — it’s a family-run institution, a place where locals and visitors alike return time and again for great food, genuine Pembrokeshire hospitality, and a little bit of the sea…

The bar, where the closest thing to trouble is the barrel running out

For 15 years, our bar at The Griffin has been at the heart of the pub, a place where the busy world outside simply disappears. With traditional red quarry tiles, white-painted stone walls, ancient beams, and a crackling fire in winter, it’s the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and leave your worries at the door.

Our little Griffin family — our warm, friendly staff — have earned a reputation for genuine, attentive service, helping every guest feel at home. Whether you’re popping in for a quick pint or settling in for the evening, the welcome is always the same.

We serve real local ales, including our very own Griffin Amber Ale, and are proud to offer Bluestone Brewery ales from north Pembrokeshire, as well as fine wines, local gins and ciders, spirits, and soft drinks.

On sunny days, the pub extends beyond the walls: our seawall is said to be the longest bar in Pembrokeshire. Grab a pint, take it outside, and watch the sea world go by — fishing boats, seabirds, and the endless estuary — all while enjoying the freshest local ales in hand.

Come for just one drink or stay for more — either way, you’ll feel part of the Griffin family

The restaurant, where the horizon washes in through glass walls

Our restaurant is all about the view. Expansive glass windows frame the Milford Haven estuary and the sea wall, letting the ever-changing light of the bay flood in. On sunny days, the water sparkles, fishing boats glide by, and seabirds dance on the breeze — it feels like the sea itself has joined you at the table.

Inside, you’ll enjoy the freshest Pembrokeshire seafood, prepared with care by Simon and his team. From lunch to dinner, every meal is paired with a panorama that makes each bite taste even better. Whether you’re here for a special celebration, a leisurely meal, or a casual catch-up, our restaurant offers comfort, warmth, and a view that will stay with you long after you leave

On sunny days, there’s nowhere quite like The Griffin. Sit on our roof top terrace and soak up the sun while watching the fishing boats come in, the gentle bustle on the water, and the sparkling estuary — it almost feels like you’re in the Mediterranean. We call it Costa Del Dale!

We are renowned for our fresh, locally caught lobster, pulled straight from the 200 pots in the bay nearby. From sea to plate, you can literally watch the catch being brought in before it lands on your plate, ensuring the very freshest seafood experience.

Whether it’s a leisurely lunch on the terrace, a special dinner by the water, or a casual pint with friends, every visit to The Griffin is a chance to enjoy fresh, seasonal seafood, stunning views, and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that has made us a Pembrokeshire favourite.
