Dale, Pembrokeshire - beautiful seaside village near Marloes - a hidden gem

At the helm, Simon and Sian

In 2010, current owners – Simon and Sian – took over the Griffin. Moving from the city back to their home roots with their two children for a lifestyle change. Dale village has a special place in their hearts and has done for many years.

Simon used to come to Dale as a child, visiting his grandfather whilst Sian’s links go even deeper. Her parents ran the Griffin themselves for many years in the ’90s.

13 years on from originally practicing architecture, Simon became known as the Accidental Chef and has recently been named Pub Chef of the Year 2021. Over the years The Griffin team have won many accolades for their seafood & service.

The bar, where the closest thing to trouble is the barrel running out

With its traditional red quarry tiles, painted white stone walls, ancient beams and a crackling fire in winter, our traditional bar is where the busy world outside disappears. Your troubles left at the door.

Inside, we serve real local ales and have our own amber Griffin ale. A popular blonde ale is the Cwrw Haf, brewed for us by Evan and Evans and available from Easter to October. We also serve fine wines, local gins & ciders, and other spirits and soft drinks to help wash cares away whilst you make friends with the people around you. Come for just one or stay for more, the welcome is always the same.

The restaurant, where the horizon washes in through glass walls

With its floor-to-ceiling glass walls, our modern restaurant spills wonderful views of the Pembrokeshire coast inside, so you can watch the shore and boats whatever the weather.

In spring and summer, the doors open out onto a small patio where you can eat and drink in the warmth of the sunshine as the rest of the world sails by. As autumn and winter creep in, we light the fires and log burners bringing a flicker of heat to warm your chatter as the tide turns in the bay.

Take a seat on our rooftop terrace, above the restaurant, and drink in the views of the estuary. Whether you’re here for our delicious, traditional home-cooked dishes, or you’re looking to try the seafood specials with one of our unique sauces, you can be sure your food will come with a fresh sea breeze and the sounds of the coast ebbing and flowing around you.

If you’ve arrived by boat, our roof terrace is the perfect place to keep an eye on your boat or just people watch as they play about with theirs.
